Tamilnadu Government makes mandatory for motorist to wear Helmets while riding two-wheeler. In this connection RTO officers find if any motorist without helmet riding on road booked and vehicle documents are being seized.

Based on recent Hon’ble Madras High Court look at that number of precious lives were lost due to not-wearing of helmets while driving and made it compulsory wearing helmet.

Tamilnadu government has taken a decision to avoid accidents released order to media that ‘Two-wheeler driver must wear helmet from 1st July, 2015, failing which all the documents of motorist including driving license shall be seized under section 206 of the motor vehicles act, 1988, said.

Government also added motorist already having helmet ISI certified should wear, if motorist documents seized under vehicle act would be released only when motorist submits helmet purchased receipt.
